Marilyn Gervais

Marilyn taught herself to sew on an old Singer as a young mother of two… making clothing for them and herself. She took her first quilt class in 1980 and she has been ‘hooked’ on quilting ever since. Her first quilt was a log cabin quilt and remains to this day to be one of her all-time favorite patterns.

Marilyn has a Bachelor of Science in Education with a K – 9 certification, and additional post graduate credits in Administration and Counseling. She has a NC Real Estate License and is a Certified Personal Life Coach.

Marilyn is a native of Detroit, Michigan. She and her husband moved to NC in 1992 – and they consider themselves North Carolinians now.  When they first moved down to NC all of their 5 children were scattered around the globe from Switzerland to the Persian gulf with the Navy, to school in California and 2 living in Ohio. Now all the children have come to roost in NC. Three are married and Marilyn is the proud ‘Nana’ of 6 grandchildren.

Marilyn became semi-retired in 2005 and is greatly enjoying assisting Julianne and the team in her Patchwork Memories Quilting Studio.

Lori Rice

Lori has been a “crafter” since she was little, finishing her mom's needlework projects and selling her projects from a small corner of her grandmother’s table at church bazaars.  Her love of quilting started 15 years ago, when a coworker introduced her to the magic of quilt shops.

Lori has a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech, and spent nine years as a software engineer in the telecommunications industry.  She is now a stay-at-home mom to a busy ten year old. Lori has won awards for her quilts from the Capital Quilters’ Guild, the NC Quilt Symposium, and the NC State Fair.  Her quilt “Deep Blue Harmonies” was selected for inclusion in the 2003 “Quilt Show by the Sea” in Myrtle Beach, SC, and was included in the 2003 book “Ricky Tims’ Convergence Quilts: Mysterious, Magical, Easy, and Fun”.

Katie Greenwood
Katie is a "Jersey girl" who doesn't remember a time when she hasn't been sewing.  At age 6, her parents bought her an old black Singer so she would keep her hands off her Mom's sewing machine.  When her Mom started quilting back in the 70s, Katie jumped right in too, though small children and a full time job took over most of her sewing time.

Since "retiring" and moving to North Carolina in 2007, Katie has renewed her passion for quilting, stitchery, beading and doll making.  She is thrilled by the fabulous choice of quilt shops in central North Carolina!  Katie is an active member of the Capital Quilters Guild in Raleigh, NC, the Willow Bee quilting group, and the Cloth Doll Making Club of Central North Carolina.

Cheri is a professional longarm machine quilter and also teaches sewing machine quilting. Cheri has enjoyed teaching quilting classes at guilds and quilt shops for the past four years.  She is a member of two longarm machine quilters groups, Ohio Longarm quilters and Freemotion Quilters in Ohio.

Cheri was a resident of Ohio for 38 years.  Recently, Cheri and her husband John relocated to Clayton, NC to be closer to her daughter and grandsons.
