Our Difference

Postage Stamp Framed Quilt
A framed quilt is a small quilt that is mounted and framed. This process preserves your precious memories and provides and excellent and artistic way to display and enjoy your new quilt.

We can create a memory quilt to frame made with clothing or items that have special meaning to you. You may choose to incorporate pictures, letters, or drawings, and we’ll transfer them to fabric for you.

We can also frame an antique or well-loved quilt so it can be preserved and enjoyed for many more years.

If you are looking for a quick gift, turn-around time is generally shorter on framed quilts.

Tell me about your company

Patchwork Memories, Inc.® is a fully licensed and insured corporation operating entirely within North Carolina, USA. Be assured that we run a professional, efficient, and organized company, and we will take great care with your treasured items. Even though we’ve made hundreds of quilts, we know how much yours means to you, and each quilt gets the care and attention that our own quilts receive. We are a small business, and we love the art of quilts and quilting.

What is included in the price?

Everything needed to make your quilt, except for your personal items, is included in your price. We use quilter’s-quality 100% cotton fabric, a premium cotton blend batting sold for use in heirloom quilts, and high-quality cotton thread in the creation of your quilt. Because we have many local clients, shipping charges are additional.

How long does the process take?

Normal turnaround time for a standard setting t-shirt quilt or a framed quilt is about a month, but if you have a special event and need it quicker, please let us know! Other quilts and bears may take longer. Delivery times may be delayed near Christmas and the May/June graduation season, as these are our busiest times. Get on our calendar early for these seasons!

Can I get embroidery on my quilt?

Of course. We have a Babylock brand professional embroidery machine. This machine allows us to embroider images or personalized wording on your creations that will look terrific for the life of the quilt. We offer a huge variety of embroidery designs.

How are the edges of the framed quilt finished?

We use a double-folded fabric binding for strength and durability. This binding is machine-stitched to the front and back of each quilt for extra strength.

Do you machine-quilt your framed quilts?

Absolutely! We have a state-of-the-art APQS Millenium longarm quilting machine. This machine allows us to machine quilt your quilts at the highest quality, which helps the quilt last longer and provides beautiful quilting stitches on your quilt.

I want an original design. What should I do?

Each framed quilt is personalized for each client. After talking with you, you will receive a custom-created digital quilt layout image, which allows you to see our ideas. We then work together to perfect the colors, layout, and design for your quilt. In many projects, the digital quilt layout will get several revisions before the design is solidified and quilting begins.

Are there any clothing items that cannot be used in a framed quilt?

Nearly everything can be incorporated into a Framed Quilt. Some items that don’t work well include sweaters or other loosely knitted items and leather.

How much fabric does a framed quilt take?

The short answer is that we can use as little or as much as you want to send. Your fabrics can be combined with other fabrics to complete the framed quilt, or we can concentrate on using more of your items.

How are photos included?

Through a special process, we can transfer photos to fabric for inclusion in your framed quilt. We start with prints or with high-resolution digital images. We can also include anything that can be scanned, such as ticket stubs, invitations, newspaper clippings, and letters. The fabric photos are washable, but may fade if washed many times.

"Just want you to know I received the framed quilts and they look great! Adding my grandmother's name was the perfect touch. If need be, do you think 1 or 2 additional small frames could be made out of the remaining fabric? Thanks again. I'm glad I finally had something made out of that large piece.”

"The quilts arrived and are incredible. I am amazed at how you incorporated all the elements I requested and individualized each quilt so it is perfectly suited to the loved one that will receive them this Christmas. Every part of this process from collaboration on patterns to receipt of the shipment was without flaw. Thank you for your artistry, warmth, and professionalism. I will remain a customer

"I love them! My mom used to teach teachers around the country. She liked to use a patchwork quilt as an example of how your career and the kids you teach evolve over time into something beautiful that you can't fully appreciate until you see it as a whole. The framed quilts really have meaning for the family because most of us are educators or retired educators. We are pleased with your excellent work!”

- Brenda in St. Lake City, Utah
